60 Faces of NCSY

Often, a person has no idea of the impact he or she has made on someone else. 60 Faces of NCSY was created to change that. The people we feature every day were nominated by NCSY alumni and NCSYers to express gratitude to someone that inspired them.

Shosh Grad

Advisor

Nominated and written by Sarah Solway, NCSYer

Two summers ago I had the privilege of going on NCSY’s GIVE. I only knew a handful of people and for the most part kept to myself. One day on the bus, Shosh came over and sat next to me despite the fact that I wasn’t really open to talking. She was persistent and slowly but surely cracked my shell and saw the best in me!

Two years later we still keep in touch.  I continue to feel that Shosh believes in me no matter what and loves me unconditionally. She has changed my life for the better and is patient, kind and laughs at all my jokes no matter if they are funny or not. Shosh recomended that we learn the book “The thinking jewish teenagers guide to life” by Rabbi Akiva Tatz, I was reluctent at first because I thought it sounded like a book for rebellious teenagers, but Shosh convinced me and I’m so happy she did. It’s truly a beautiful book and is so deep and inspiring. I’m lucky to have Shosh Grad as not only a friend but a role model of how you can be happy, have fun, and be religous all at the same time! Thank you Shosh for believing in me even when I gave you 100 reasons not to.
